Immaculate Heart Retreat Center will hold two special events in May 2022. On May 13-14, a 24-hour Sacred Art Retreat on the Visitation, which will be led by Hannah Charlton. The retreat begins at 4:30 pm and ends at 4:30 pm. $150 per person $255 per couple (1 night lodging and 3 meals). Includes $20 materials fee per person. Bio – Hannah Charlton Hannah Charlton is an artist living in Washington State. She interned at the Grunewald Guild in Leavenworth, Washington, and attended Whitworth University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 2014, studying art, graphic design, and history. She found the ideal intersection of the three areas of study in medieval manuscript illumination. “An illuminated manuscript is a handwritten, hand-decorated page or book. It is ‘illuminated’ in that the text is lit up with decoration.” Hannah was the Creator-in-Residence at The Lab at the North Spokane Public Library in December of 2018. May 18, Sister Mary Eucharista, SMMC will led a Silent Day of Prayer on the Blessed Mother Mary and the Theology of Joy. The Day of Prayer begins at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm $45 per person ($55 with the use of a room for the day). Bio – Sister Mary Eucharista, SMMC Sister Mary Eucharista was born and raised in Southern California and her family moved to North Idaho where she entered the Marian Sisters in 1981. Sister was an administrator and taught high school for 23 years. In 2007, she joined several members of her community in starting a new foundation, the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church, under Bishop William Skylstad of the Spokane Diocese. She has been Program Manager at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center since 2008, while also giving retreats, Days of Prayer and talks at the center and around the U.S. Sister has a BA in English / Literature and Education from Whitworth University, an MA in Philosophy at Gonzaga University, and is presently working for her spiritual direction certification out of St. Vincent’s Seminary College.
