In 2013 Pope Francis invited every diocese to keep one parish open for 24 consecutive hours for prayer during Lent. He asked that parishes who participate to make Confession available during this "24 Hours for the Lord" event. This is the 5th year of this papal initiative; for 2018 St. Peter Parish on Spokane's South Hill is the designated diocesan site for the "24 Hours for the Lord." Come, pray and go to confession, especially if you have not been in a while.
“24 Hours For the Lord” begins at 8 AM on Friday March 9 and concludes with Benediction at 8 AM on Saturday March 10. Confessions will be heard at four different times (all on Friday March 9): 9 to 10 AM, noon to 1 PM, 3 to 4 PM, 6 to 7 PM (during which Stations of the Cross will take place as well as Adoration).
“The objective,” according to Archbishop Salvatore Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, “is to offer to all – especially to those who feel uncomfortable entering a church – the opportunity to seek the merciful embrace of God."
