Report for Thursday 4/27/2017
If you could make a lasting difference in the life of one person, would you do so?
I invite you to join me in participating in our diocesan Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). This one Church effort unites us as a community of believers. Through the ACA, we can do far more together than any one of us could do alone. Our collective sacrifice helps sustain the many ministries of the Diocese of Spokane by enriching parish life, educating our young, strengthening families and advancing Church leadership. This includes:
Catholic Education: The ACA funds the Catholic Schools Office that provides leadership, direction and service to our 13 elementary and three high schools. There is no greater force to ignite our young people than our schools. The goals of faith formation, academic excellence and affordable tuition are worth every sacrifice.
Youth Ministry, Young Adult and Catechist Formation: The ACA funds the Parish Support and Renewal Office, which invites young people into a dynamic encounter with Jesus and helps prepare them to better understand their Catholic faith so as to live as disciples in our world. This occurs through the Steubenville summer conference, rallies, and retreats, the Newman Centers on the campuses of Washington State University and Eastern Washington University and leadership development for those working in youth ministry in our parishes.
Vocations: Each of us is called to holiness, a living out of our faith for the salvation of souls. Families are the first Church and provide the environment that helps foster vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. The ACA funds vocation ministry and seminarian education. We are blessed to have Bishop White Seminary in our diocese, and our ongoing support will help provide for new generations of shepherds to pastor God’s people.
Thank you for considering a generous commitment to the 2017 Annual Catholic Appeal. Every gift is important. We are in this together. I am confident that with God’s grace and guidance, we will experience every success.
Most Rev. Thomas Daly
Bishop of Spokane
