Countless parents have experienced the death of a child. When this death happens before the child’s birth, the resulting grief is often overlooked, hidden, or denied. Yet a lament arises from women and men regardless of age, race, culture, religion, or immigration status, uniting us all in a common bond of grief and a desire for healing.
This memorial is for all children who have died, especially those who died before their birth—for any reason—and for their parents, siblings, friends, and all people of good will. It is for those who have never had the chance to grieve, for those who grieve alone, for those in need of healing and forgiveness, and for anyone who wishes to be united in solidarity with them.
It is our hope that the encounter with the gentle Good Shepherd, who “knows His sheep and calls each of them by name,” will comfort, console, and encourage all who participate in this gesture.
The evening will begin at 7:30 pm at Bishop White Seminary, and will consist of a candlelight Eucharistic procession, a multi-lingual rosary (English, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and Swahili), and Benediction with the Most Blessed Sacrament.
Please join us as we pray for healing, compassion, and solidarity to build a culture of life. A chance to remember all children who have died especially those who died before birth and to support their families.
